Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a relationship between
vocabulary mastery and the ability to write narrative essays in fourth grade students at SDN 101949
Pematang Tatal. The data collection techniques are in the form of tests and non-tests. Non-test
techniques include interviews, questionnaires, observation, and documentation. ,6% of students'
vocabulary mastery is in the fairly good category, and 30.8% of students' vocabulary mastery is in the
poor category in this case students lack mastery of vocabulary which includes: showing words
according to the available descriptions, showing available synonyms, showing the available antonyms
of words, and explaining the meaning of words in words or using sentences and the ability to write
narrative essays of students is in the very good category, 23.8% of students' ability to write narrative
essays is in the good category, 27.8% of essay writing skills students' narratives fall into the fairly good
category, and 10.5% of students' narrative writing abilities fall into the category I'm not good.
