Abstract
In the view of Islam, an organization or institution in any field will run well if it is
supported by good management. The same thing applies to an educational institution, if the
management is good then education will run well. On the other hand, if the management is bad,
education will run weak and porous. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The
purpose of this study was to determine the principal's management in improving the pedagogic
competence of Islamic Religious Education teachers, the problems faced and the efforts made to
overcome the problems faced in improving the pedagogic competence of Islamic Religious
Education teachers at SMP PAB 15 Medan. From the results of the research conducted, it is
known that the principal's management in increasing the competence of Islamic Religious
Education teachers in SMP PAB 15, among others; 1) recruiting teachers according to their
educational background, 2) establishing good communication with teachers, 3) evaluating teacher
performance and 4) playing an active role in the making and designing of syllabus and lesson
plans. The problems faced include; 1) the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak, 2) inadequate facilities,
3) budget constraints, 4) lack of guardian support from students, 5) conflicting teacher teaching
schedules and 6) differences in student capture power. Meanwhile, the efforts taken to
overcome the existing problems include; 1) coordinate with teachers, 2) coordinate with teachers,
3) provide flexibility to teachers in making and designing syllabus and lesson plans, 4) involving
teachers in every decision making, 5) motivating teachers, giving rewards, 6) making free
activities conducted
