Abstract
The problem raised in this study is how to apply Islamic religious education learning
methods. This research is classified as classroom action research using a qualitative approach. The
research subjects were seventh grade students of SMP Dharma Utama Pegajahan in 2022. The data
were collected using observation, questionnaire, and assignment methods. The results of this study
indicate that the learning process at SMP Dharma Utama Pegajahan runs quite effectively in
accordance with the basic concept of the learning process carried out by educators in general, namely
students following the learning process enthusiastically in Islamic Religious Education subjects. The
learning methods used by teachers of Islamic Religious Education at the Dharma Utama Pegajahan
Middle School include: lecture method, discussion method, question and answer method, assignment.
The use of these various methods causes the behavior of students to become better and looks religious,
for example by maintaining morals and character towards teachers and others. From the results of
observations and interviews conducted, it was found that most of the students expressed pleasure in
using the lecture and discussion method in understanding Islamic religious education learning
materials.
